2026 Intentions

byCharlie

I want to be intentional.

so, here we are, for the first time (of hopefully many!), setting my intentions in stone right here on my blog.

In 2026, I want to...

try woodworking

I love the idea of creating things by hand.

And, creating things off the screen. I was master prestige on Call of Duty: MW3 before turning the age of 13, for goodness sake. All my hobbies and pursuits from the youngest of age have been on the screen. And, while I love that technology is my domain, I crave creation in a more visceral sense.

By the end of the year, I will have at the very least dabbled into woodworking, to see if it's something I'd be interested in pursuing as a longer term hobby.

meditate everyday

I have gone on daily meditation streaks, but never more than a month. It's odd, because I vividly see and feel the benefits that it meditation brings to me, and so I often question myself, why don't I do this everyday? Of course, daily practice has always the goal, but in reality it just hasn't happened for me.

As I said earlier, I want to be intentional. I want intention to be infused within me, I want it to be one of my core characteristics. A daily practice in meditation will certainly lead me there. This concrete goal is daunting but perhaps the most exciting to me:

I intend to meditate everyday.

launch River Journal

River Journal has been my passion project that has been in its incubation stages for over a year now. I really would love to get it up and released. This is my first blog post, so if you aren't someone in my immediate life and I've spoken to you verbally about the app, chances are you haven't heard of the it. (or.. if you are here from the future, hopefully you have!)

It will be a stream of consciousness journaling app, and free of charge. Universally cross-platform, and local-first. essentially, it'll be a safe space for one to write continuous streams of thought, and to experience the fruits of being in the flow of one's own mind. You own your data, and can opt into syncing it via the app's hosted service.

while local-first apps are a developing landscape, I don't think River Journal poses some serious technical challenges. so, launching River Journal is certainly a feasible thing to accomplish this year. I think what makes it most difficult, is that even though the app is simple in idea, I hope for it to be elegant in its execution. plus, currently working full-time definitely takes time away from it, but that's why we are here reprioritizing :D

More to come on River Journal, but by the end of the year, I do hope that I have launched it in its core form; a local-first journal on all platforms with a syncing service, and a flow-focused UI.

learn to 3D model

I recently purchased a 3D printer.

I love the capabilities, and the potential to organize and create very functional quality of life improvements. While there is a plethora of designs available for download, I feel that the true power of the 3D printer comes when it is operated by a creative mind who designs new, unique, one-of-a-kind solutions.

In 2026, I intend to gain some skill in creating my own designs, and solving my own unique challenges that I face in my day-to-day life.

blog!

for selfish reasons, at that.

I would love love love to be able to revisit all of my thoughts and whats-happenings in a few decades. To see the progression of everything, what I have managed to learn, what journeys I have been on, what decisions I have made, all of that stuff. I want to crystallize it all.

I think practically too, blogging helps me conceptualize things, form new thoughts, connect ideas, and most importantly, be in tune with myself. It allows me to express myself, not only big picture and long term, but in the more immediate now; whether a post is a dedicated and elaborate, or a quick stream of thought, it is ultimately a snapshot of me, of Charlie, at a point in time, and I love that.

In 2026, I intend to post to this blog at least once a month.

peace, thx for reading!
